Jane Broadhead
Managing Director

Jane has worked at Turnbull’s for as long as she can remember, taking on various roles and even answering the on-call phone from home as a young child. Her unwavering commitment and passion for the family business and industry earned her the position of Managing Director.

Jane’s appointment to this role came after her father, Jimmy Turnbull, retired due to ill health. Despite his departure, Jimmy remained a beloved presence in the office, often stopping by for a cup of coffee and to catch up on the latest news.

With Jane at the helm, the business has continued to succeed, thanks to her extensive experience and determination. Her leadership has been instrumental in maintaining the company’s reputation for excellence and ensuring its continued success.

Jane has recently bestowed the responsibility of managing the family business to her son Ben Broadhead.

Ben Broadhead
Director

Ben is the seventh generation of his family to work at Turnbull’s. His mother, Jane Broadhead, and his grandfather, Jimmy Turnbull, both preceded him in this esteemed family tradition.

Ben’s career began in marketing, where he worked at DFDS and Newcastle University before joining Turnbull’s. In his free time, he can be found on the golf course or supporting his football team, Newcastle United.

Martyn Watts
Senior Funeral Director

Martyn has had a six-year tenure in the funeral industry, with three of those years spent as a funeral director for Turnbull’s. Prior to his current role, Martyn had a successful career in the care industry.

Martyn resides in Northumberland and relishes spending quality time with his loved ones, hitting the gym to stay fit, and embarking on adventures on his motorcycle.

Sam Elliott
Funeral Director

For nearly a decade, Sam has been involved in the funeral industry in Northumberland and North Tyneside, with two of those years at Turnbull’s, funeral directing.

Sam is an ardent supporter of Newcastle United and proudly holds a season ticket. Sam’s a local lad and lives in North Shields. He enjoys spending his spare time by the coast or on a nearby beach.
